FlexRay is a real-time automotive network protocol designed to support the transmission of large amounts of data between components in vehicles. It was developed by a consortium of automotive manufacturers and suppliers and is now an international standard (ISO 17458). FlexRay provides high bandwidth (up to 10 Mbps) and deterministic communication with low latency and reliable message delivery. It is commonly used in safety-critical applications such as brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). FlexRay uses a dual-channel bus architecture with a fault-tolerant mechanism and supports both synchronous and asynchronous communication modes. It also provides robust communication in harsh electromagnetic environments.
